Our commitment
Around the Circle Midwifery is built on the belief that care should meet people where they are. That commitment extends to this website. We want everyone to be able to learn about our midwives, understand our services, and get in touch with us.

Accessibility is not a box we check once. We treat it as ongoing work, and we welcome being told when we've fallen short.

Standard we're working toward
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. These guidelines are the widely accepted benchmark for making web content usable by people with a broad range of disabilities, and they are the standard referenced under the Americans with Disabilities Act and Washington State law.

Current status:
Partially conformant — parts of the site do not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. We are working on the gaps listed below.

What we've done
Steps taken to make this site more accessible include:

  • descriptive alternative text on images that convey meaning

  • text that can be resized in the browser without loss of content or function

  • a page structure using headings in a logical order so that screen reader users can navigate by section

  • color combinations chosen for sufficient contrast between text and background

  • forms with labeled fields

  • a layout that adapts to phones, tablets, and desktop screens

  • navigation that can be operated with a keyboard

Known limitations
We want to be honest about where the site falls short. As of our last review:

  • Image descriptions. Some images on the site use filenames rather than meaningful descriptions as their alternative text. We are replacing these. We will mark purely decorative images so screen readers skip them.

  • Third-party content. Our website is built on the Wix platform, and some page elements, embedded tools, and social media feeds come from Wix or other outside services. We do not control their underlying code and cannot guarantee their accessibility.

  • Payment and survey pages. These use third-party services whose accessibility we do not control.

  • PDFs and downloadable documents. Some documents may not be fully accessible. Contact the office, and we will provide the content in another format.

If the website doesn't work for you, we will
You should never have to fight a website to reach your midwife.

If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, call our office at (360) 459-7222, and we will give you the information you need directly, help you schedule, or complete any form with you over the phone. We can also provide materials in large print or another format on request, at no cost to you.

We take accessibility feedback seriously, and it helps us improve. Please let us know:

Please include the page address, what you were trying to do, and what got in the way—including the browser, device, or assistive technology you were using. You do not need to know any technical terms to report a problem.
We aim to respond as soon as possible.

Accessibility at our office and birth center
Our practice and The Birth House are located in a historic 1909 home. If you have questions about physical access, mobility needs, or accommodations for an appointment or birth, please call us before your visit so we can plan with you.

Ongoing work
We review this website for accessibility, and we update this statement when our status changes.

This statement was prepared on September 17, 2026, and reflects the site as it existed on that date.
